Sun One Homa today, we kept a small murthi of Gurudeva on his seat by the fire. Meanwhile Gurudeva sent this email: "GURUDEVA: Just returned to the Holiday Inn after a wonderful China Airline flight and reception at the airport in Singapore (a tourist attraction). Tonight we signed over a hundred books, one after the one for a solid hour. Could have been longer but NO books were left. Hope they have enough for tomorrow and next day morning. We have had a long day but feeling great. Love flowing in abundance from over 600 who attended the temple function tonight. Love and blessing to one and all at the Aadheenam and Dharmasala. Aum
Paramacharya Bodhinathaswami presides in Gurudeva's absence We got our new digital camera today and are delighted with the fine quality. Dawn is breaking here over the mountains as we parade the kumbha pots out to the Iraivan Temple Site. Acharya Palaniswami Paramacharya Bodhinathaswami waits while the temple priests get things together for the parade. Your photographer, Sadhaka Jivanandanatha OK, here we go. What a beautiful day. Sadhaka Tyaganatha and Brahmachari Vicknesvaren carry the kumbhas. Arati at the Ganesha in the banyan tree on the North end of the temple. Sprinkling the site as we all walk around the foundation. The morning sun falls brightly on the plastic that covers wet burlap. The entire slab is "sealed" shut so that it cannot dry out at all. After the circumnabulation we go up on the foundation. The blessed water is poured over the point where the crystal Lingam will one day be established. Big breakthrough in the kitchen today was the testing of our new sugar cane juicer that was gifted to the monastery by all the Kulapatis in Malaysia. Wow! Does it ever work great. Stainless steel with an incredibly strong jaw it takes a 2 inch piece of cane and squeezes every drop of juice out. We got a gallon from just a few stalks, amazing. . .and the pulp will make great mulch in the garden. Sannyasin Sivakatirswami helps Sivanadiyar Nanthakumar with his training in Hinduism Today subscription work. Today Nanthakumar work on 80 pieces of correspondence and email from readers all over the world. "OK, so this man write that he was away for 6 months and missed all his issues. . .what to do. . .mmm. . .he's a paid subscriber till November 2000. . .so, send him all the missed issue and a sweet note welcoming him back home."
Newly weds came to the temple today. Branavan and Vythedi originally from Jaffna. This was an arranged marriage. Branavan is working for Microsoft in Seattle. He came to the US 15 years or so ago after finishing school. He family found a perfect match in Vythedi in Australia. So he went to Australia and agreed and now they are on their way to Seattle after the wedding. Both their grand parents know Yogaswami in Sri Lanka. A growing trend among young Hindu couples. Get married and go to Hawaii for a "blessed honeymoon." by coming for darshan at the Shiva temple. Many blessings to Branavan and Vythedi! This new camera is really great. . .here we are looking up through leaves of what can grow to be among the tallest trees in the world: Parkia, growing to 250 feet tall. After years of work since the hurricane Iniki, our land is slowing getting shaded again by new plantings. A special TI plant that developed here on the property. . .we call it "The Pihanakalane." Its pink, purple and green variegated leaf is quite lovely. |
